Kenneth (Ken) Wayne and Gloria Ann Baker
Ken was born July 7, 1936, in Morrow County, Ohio to Paul and Mary (Davis) Baker. Grew up in Lexington, Ohio, attended Lexington grade school and graduated from high school in May of 1954. He then attended a year at Milligan College. Ken accepted the Lord and was baptized November 23, 1947 at the Lexington Church of Christ. July 25, 1956 he married his high school Sweetheart Gloria Ann Walker. They are blessed with 4 sons, 14 grandchildren, a great grandson and a great granddaughter.
Ken has served the Lord in many different ways, as a S. S. superintendent, deacon and helped build a new church building where he installed the sound system. Moving to the New Life Church of Christ he serves as a Shepherd and because of his love of singing, is part of the Praise Teams. Ken worked for NCR for 37 years, bought out by AT&T and because of down sizing lost that job. Took a contract job, hired by IBM, bought out by AT&T and in 5 years they eliminated all their jobs.
Ken began working in what has become a Prison Ministry when he took a Bible to a girl at the Franklin County Workhouse in October of 1999. The next day she called and wanted 2 more Bibles. With in two weeks he was up to 20. Since that time he has been taking Bibles, sending Bible studies and writing to inmates there and as they have gone to different prisons have continued this ministry in those locations where the total Bibles sent to inmates is over 350 and by the end of 2007 has written 1035 inmates (men and women).
August 12, 2001 Ken was ordained as a Christian minister by the Waterford Church of Christ, to serve this ministry. He now visits the Ohio Reformatory for Women at Marysville normally 2 times a month. He is approved to visit over 50 inmates at ORW and 4 other prisons. He also visits several jails and halfway houses. He has written inmates in 6 Federal Penitentiaries. He also writes Mothers, Fathers, Husbands, Wives, Children and a few Grand parents of inmates.
